I've written about the case of Troy Davis a handful of times at my job since I started there six months ago. After half a year of talking about the impending date of execution for the death row inmate, today's lethal injection managed to kind of sneak up right on me. When demonstrators marched by my office in DC this afternoon, I ran out the door with my camera and followed them to the White House. Some of these photos are from around 2 p.m. when Davis still had a few hours until he was scheduled to die. At 7 p.m., when Davis was expected to be at death's door, a crowd in front of the White House got word that he would live a little bit longer. Some of the photos are from the moments leading up to that.
Davis died at 11:08 pm today.
